After taking inspiration from Daves CavraVit camper van i decided to have a go and do something similar but different. Been having a peruse of the sankey trailers on E bay. Had a look at one but worked out the were too big for the Vit.

I liked the off road capability and the fact you could mount a roof tent on one . So came up with this idea.

Image

Half a Vitara using the rear of a soft top as a base. Retain the rear running gear in situ and blank off the front. Then chequer plate the top to mount the roof tent on.

you beat me to it, 8-} 8-} same basic idea but i was building the trailer from scratch, ( wanted to make full use of practising my welding from the course) hubs are on there way, got two 31" machos on alloys that i have had for ages

reason i wanted to go for a trailer was i have my eye on getting a quad so will need to be big enough to carry that and also been designing a tent top the same and making it removable to dry store in the winter months
got my main ideas from here looking around on this site

Been gathering some bits too. Got some alloys the same as my ones on the ECO. need to give them a spray up and get some 31"s on. The Vits been chopped the A frame made, Tow hitch has been sourced as has the tent.

Just bought some rear legs to go on it (Sankey trailer ones). Just done a 3+1/2" bodylift on it, and stripped the interior out.

But personally.. think i'll stick with this for events.. gas heating, double glazed, sleeps four, can stand up inside, and it dont leak..

And all for £41

Please post pics Richie as you go..

My only thought is the storage area will be small..

You couls do as the mini owners do and take it to the point of the a frame..

like that mock up richie, would look really well. :)

i suppose you could place a normal caravan front box onto the a bar at the front if its big enough??? then you could keep gas bottles etc in there and other bits.
