Oops! It wasn't me, honest!

The hosting company that own the server SS is hosted on now had some downtime. They seem to have got it all back up and working now so fingers crossed. I will update when I find out what went wrong, possibly a power cut.

I left my IT career some ten years ago... but we had UPS's* back then too?

* UPS = Unitneruptable Power Supplies (big battery backup power sources)

Ok, maybe not a power cut.. The hosting companies status page and homepage were down too though so I think something serious happened. I'm waiting for them to update their status blog..

Update 1:45 PM: The network is up and working again at the moment. We are investigating to find the root cause. Preliminary information suggests an OSPF failure.

From a little google it appears this is the protocol that controls how the servers connect to the ip system and the world wide web..
