I miss my off-roader

Post by ubermeister » Tue Jul 25, 2017 6:43 pm

I miss my lifted and mud-tyred 4x4, and I've found myself thinking of building something else, and of what options I have. The GV is a great truck, and it's perfect for camping weekends with the wife (of which we've done a fair few now), but it's not the RatBastard. I know, I know, I hated that truck, but it was only ever the (bleeding unreliable) diesel engine I disliked - everything else I loved.

So, what do I do now? I don't need my Zafira any more, I haven't carried more than five people in ages, so I'm thinking sell it, use the GV as the family wagon, and build a new off roader.

But what? Vitara? SWB GV? Jimny? Other?

Thoughts?

Most comments will probably be Jimny based as parts are going to be easy to find

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's what I know, and I love the look of them.

Seriously thinking about building a long wheel-based Samurai.

So it'll need a new chassis already.

The old saying;

If you wish to drive into the desert, take a Landrover.

If you wish to drive back OUT of the desert, take a Toyota.
