love the sound of the scooby and the evo is a great car but high maintenance i believe?
bloke across the road has just bought a new skoda vrs and whilst ive never been a skoda fan i must admit it is a lovely motor.
cant help on choice tho si, whatever comes along at the right deal i guess?

scooby and evo are indeed maintenance hungry... i love the vRS line.. especially the old PD150 fabia one

Mitsubishi Legnum VR4. Twin turbo'd 2.5l V6 and all wheel drive. Mean and angry looking as hell, with a black belt in badassery, and it'll still outrun most things on the road while carrying three of your mates.

p.s. Gotta get the estate though, the saloon has a bad case of the fuglys.

I like evo 6's if it were a toss up between a Scooby and an evo it would be evo, all day up to the evo 5 the bottom ends are a bit soft much better diffs on the evo than the same age Scooby. couple of close frends had identical spec 500 bhp track day road legal cars big spec engines and clutch but running std tfer box diffs and gear box running slick's with no problems.
been on track days with the VR4 they go well for a large family car to.

I might be a bit bias, but to throw a spanner in the works ever considered a smart roadster? Admittidly not the fastest car in the world but he'll of a lot of fun to drive. The bi-turbo is addictive as hell and you can throw it into the corners and it just keeps gripping.

If you want something a little quicker then there is the brabus option. and when you can get 60mpg putting your foot down you cant complain

Just food for thought

Either of those two will be amazing to drive, but historically the Sti is a bit more "road friendly" and the EVO a bit more "hardcore". Also, check out service intervals on the EVO - they tend to be crazy short! I have always wanted one of them but can't justify the running costs - I know the 1.8 20V Turbo you have now is not uber savvy, but compared to those two....

I have had an EVO 4 RS great car but big money pit and would not recomend towing with one same with scoobys if you do not mind the fuel bills on them two but want some thing to tow but Quick volvo T5R V70 they are 4x4 300bhp 5cylinder and same basic engine as ford focus ST and RS
Down side I think is only in auto but does have trip tronic

i have a V70 T5 not the R

well prob the scooby then but i would go for a UK wagon if it was me i used to help prep scoobys for rallying and drove a few and thought the uk was the nicest for road use the EVO would rings around one on track
my EVO4 was 3 years old and the scoobys where the classic ones so things may be different but guess they are still money pits lol
