What's my (Bits4Vits Stealth) Vitara worth?

Post by jimny-dave » Sat Mar 02, 2013 1:28 pm

The sort of question that would get deleted within ten minutes off Difflock! :))

But a genuine question... I'm about to advertise my (Bits4Vits) Vitara "Stealth" for sale, but it's difficult to put an asking price against it...?

I want a fairly quick sale, but there again it does have a good spec' 3"+3" lift, 31"s, crawler box, lockright in the rear, LSD in a steel front axle upfront, ORAs entire Vitara catalogue as was (Bumpers, Side Bars, Skids, Roll Hoop)... but there again it's scratched to buggery from extreme-lanin'... 48k on the clock, recent head gasket, battery, exhaust...

So what price does everyone think?

I initially thought 3k but then it would sit for ages...?

:-??

In my opinion if you want to get rid in decent time then it will need to stay below £2k. :-??

would make more money if you where to break it , but depends on if you have time and also a place to dismantle , it seems silly to break a great truck like stealth but its parts people are after not the whole truck ,

I have to agree, Break it and make more money, I could have sold my blue one for about £3000 but broke it and made £5500.

Hi Dave,

As others have said, would be worth more in bits unfortunately. :(

How much did you list it for when you were thinking of selling before?

I guess if your not in a massive rush to sell, you could start high and if it hasnt sold/no interest after a few weeks you could then drop the price. :-?

I think I'd also be tempted to advertise it in the couple of 4x4 magazines. Total off road and the other one.

Atleast that way some one who isnt necessarily looking for another/new truck might spot it and want it!

If your going to put it on ebay, then list is as a classified listing not as an auction!

Too many idiots on ebay who will bid and then not make contact/pay.

Good luck with the sale mate. :-bd

Thing is Dave you've spent a small fortune on it
But you would never get your money back it was
Just for your own pleasure , You might have to cut
Your losses a bit ,start high you can always lower price People won't pay
Big money for them been watching a few SJs
On evil bay and their not selling ,like every one
Says break it but its the time and hassle to do it

id go along with what ben is advising and advertise in total offroad etc. wouldnt touch ebay unless you are prepared to give it away, ebay seems to be getting worse and the fees are withering.
might be worth sticking a for sale sign on it?
cant advise on price as its so subjective. sold my last 2000 reg 4u for £2k which i thought was a superb price in the current climate, totally standard however.
good luck with the sale mate

Thanks all... common theme in those comments, break it and make more on it...?

Had a good chat with the missus yesterday on the way to visit her Dad in a hospital miles away, we came out of it with two decisions - get the MOT on it and advertise it, and if it doesn't sell just SORN it and leave it on the drive for a while...

Missus is worried it's just a(nother) phase and she thinks I'll want to come back to it after a break, and when we've finished decorating the house, etc...

But I just feel the spark has gone, I don't itch to get out there any more, and I must admit I wandered around the 4x4 Show a bit dis-interested... nice to talk to old mates, but even the hooge trucks and shiny parts couldn't get me interested...? :-??

Never really been into bikes... had a little crosser when I was a teen though, but never been on the road with a bike... likewise, fast cars have never appealed to me either...

Plan is to sell both the Jimny and the Vitara, pool the money and buy a "New" Grand Vitara... without a lift and knobbly tyres :-s

Dave if you get a GV will you really be able to resist modding it?

Have you owned a Zuke yet and not modified it? :-?

I think its a shame the spark has gone for you. We've had some great trips over the years and I've always enjoyed your company. :(

Well, after a good heart-to-heart with the wife - we had an hours car journey last Sunday - my lovely missus (Sarah) thinks I should SORN Stealth and leave him on the drive for a while, and make sure how I feel... she knows I've given up a couple of times before, and come back to it, and is worried this may happen again, and that it's just that we're mega-busy at the moment what with the various businesses, her Dad being flooded, us building the extension and now redecorating the rest of the house, that there's just not enough time for mending and driving the Vit' at the moment. So best to park it up for a bit, and wait and see how I feel after we've caught up with life...

Which I agreed (of course, who would question their wife's opinion?! ;) ), was the best course of action, and so Stealth's tax disk is in the post to the DVLA, he's still insured whilst he's sitting on the drive, and I'll see how I feel in a few months time...

Meanwhile, the jimny never sold, 400+ viewings on eBay and 500ish on the B4V site, and no offers... so I've booked him in for a service on Wednesday, and will be keeping him as a daily-driver...

Both Zooks are bought and paid for, so it's not as if I need to sell them, so it looks like you're stuck with me... :-o

I don't want to let Stealth go for 2K, there's a lot more sat in him than that, and I don't want - or have the time - to break him either...

Dave :ymhug:
