Grand Vitara Steering Stops

Post by RichM » Wed Aug 23, 2017 12:14 pm

Hi Folks,

I've just managed to get 35x11.5-15 simexes on a GV1600 (might be 10.5 but pretty sure they are 11.5). Got about -32 offset. No suspension lift.

Tyres are rubbing on chassis at full lock (no surprise there!). In practice I can probably get full lock back with some chassis tweaks or wishbone re-configurements... Both plans are a bit more intrusive and as I'm pretty close to having the vehicle ready for a test run I'd just like to limit the steering for now and see if I have enough lock without the risk of knocking lugs off the tires.

As the thing is steering rack I'm fairly sure I'm right in saying there's no real adjustment. (easiest if someone can tell me I'm wrong on this!)

I've read about "steering rack limiters" - spacers which go one end of rack which limit movement. Anyone ever done it on GV steering rack? Or be knowledgeable enough about the rack to know if its likely to not work...

Beyond that any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...
