can any one let me no if the vitara v6 are any good or would getting the 1.6 straight 4 be the way forward ?

I've not had one, but here we go;

Different front suspension arrangement *might* make things trickier.

They're old = rust.

I think its the cam chains that make the engine a bit of a gamble. if that doesn't bother you, or you can do it yourself, go for it, I think they're otherwise a pretty decent engine.

ok thanks i see you say about rust on vitara's is this not a problem with most 4x4's can i ask what 4x4 you have thanks Zac

Yeah, it's a problem with ANY old car IMO.

There are rust free vits out there, you just have to be vigilant.

I've got a 1999 SWB vitara 4u, with a *few* mods. It's never been welded, and doesn't need any now. Rust free ones are out there!

I think I will leve the v6 as I am no macanic but do like to do as many jobs as possible to my cars so I will stick to a 1.6 as on my previous vitara lwb I found them quite easy to work on / repair and I will look out for a rust free but a little rust is not the end of the world as my bro is a welder by trade but I do no wonts thay need welding thay need it for ever more lol thanks for your advice
