New truck plan

Post by ubermeister » Tue Mar 15, 2016 8:15 am

It's no secret that I still don't particularly like my truck, but I like having a lifted Vitara even if it hardly ever goes off road. Well, now I kind of have a hankering for a long wheelbase Vit, so I've come up with a plan.

The idea is this: Go to Spain and buy a lwb, HDi engined Vit, bring it back here and then strip the Calmini kit off the RatBastard and put it on the long wheelbase. Then use all the components off of RatBastard to convert the Spanish truck to right hand drive. It's gonna be bigger than my current truck, too - think body lift and 32's.

What do y'all think, am I missing anything obvious?

Enough people import cars from other countries, so it can't be that much of a hassle. Can it?

there is somthing about bringing it in, the owner can bring it in easily and register it but its harder for you to bring it in as the new keeper somthing about spanish id s/s number i remember this from a few years back someone looking to buy a saphire cosworth from spain turned out to be a pain.
may not be the same now with the euro zone do some diging before hand

Interesting, I'll have to look into it. It's been suggested I just get a GV, but I fancied keeping my Calmini kit.
