Vitara 2.0 V6 Auto Gearbox to 1.6 Manual gearbox

Post by ped87 » Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:33 pm

Does any one know if a 1.6 vitara gearbox will bolt to the 2.0 V6 or if a Auto box from a 1.6 boly to the V6?

First port of call would be to check oil level in box.

I used to have auto Omegas and people assume that the oil lasts for life. It doesn't. 80k miles was the interval. No drain plug so you had to drop the pan off, clean the integral filter or replace and reseat with a proprietry sealer or new gasket, the sump pan. Then refill via a small plug on the side that serevd as the level for oil(basically on the level fill via that plug hole on side till oil comes out. Dex111 oil. ) Don't know anything about your box but another cause of auto box weirdness is a failed solenoid. Can be easy enough to replace assuming you have the right one.

I would suggest getting yours up to spec. If it has never had an oil change and done more than 80k that would be a good starting point.hen It will have an ID on it and there are plenty of forums about for auto boxes that will include yours. If you can't do it yourself then an auto transmission place would be £100 to £200 (at a guess) and they would also advise on condition of box.
