Out of interest could there be air in the powersteering system i.e. down one of the lines?

possibly, but it's self bleeding by doing the lock-to-lock thing? :-??

If you think the power steraing is somehow turning the wheel, couldn't you isolate that by putting the front end on axle stands with the engine running and see if there's any movement?

Are the bushes good, do poly bushes break down?

And at the extreme end of the scale, I take it you've done no chassis damaging snatch recoveries with it?

Polybushes are nearly new. No heavy recoveries/bumps that I'm aware of. Deffo need to get the front up with engine running...

i cant help but think it might be worth taking it to a tyre place and getting the laser alignment, are you sure its the front? even a little application of force to the rear on either side is enough to pull the front of the car over..

Tracking has been done. I watched/helped, and it's spot on. Next step is full wheel alignment for ££, which includes lots of measuring of bits...

Could well be the rear, but damned if I can find any problems!!

Calmini bushes are in perfect condition.

i will be having this tested soon to see how far my mesurements are out lol

Have you checked the strut turrets in case you've bent one (or both)?

I've measured, and they *SEEM* fine, no cracks, wrinkles, or similar.

You say it steers straight under braking...
I think i might start looking at the rear axle bushes and trailing arms.

I have experianced the same thing with a landy that turned out to be the rear axle mounting/control gear.

Bushes and trailing arms are fine. All the polybushes were replaced a little while ago, and the problem didn't leave.

Balljoint was replaced recently... =))

Are you havin' a laff??? Bloke drives like a loon*, you shoulda seen him tearing into the bombhole on Strata (which resulted in detaching the a-frame from the axle completely).

*meant in the nicest possible way Mr Munkee, sir.

Axle; possibly, but it all measures up okay. Y frame, nope, just replaced it.

Might be worth measuring hub center to hub center front to back... see if its the same both sides, if you havent already

maybe even take off both wishbones and offer them up to each other.
