Hi All
Been thinking for a while that I would like to get a lockrite in the vitara.
Anybody got any comments or experience as to whether to put it in the front or back?
I like the idea of putting it in the front, due to the ability to isolate it with the FWHs, but would this create some "interesting" handling/steering characteristics when in use?
Would it be more effective off road in the rear, as regards traction and drive?
Any comments appreciated.
Lockrite installation ideas.

Weird - I've been thinking the exact same recently, but there's no way I can have one in the rear, as I do a lot of road miles, and they're notoriously carp on road. The clicking would drive me nuts.
But I have been thinking about bunging one in the front.... I assumed an SJ one would fit right in the front?
If not, get an SJ diff in the vit carrier.

Great unless you need to go round corners when you're offroading I suppose.

theres a few things that would put me off fitting one in the front.
1. with a front locker engaged, ie. front end locked, it can be very difficult to turn and steer, as the vehicle may wish to just keep going straight.
2. when theres snow and ice on the roads, im not sure how well the vehicle would handle with the front end locked.
im also not sure how long the vits shafts would last.

Valid comments ^^^
Although it unlocks with low throttle/coasting?
Does anyone actually run one in the front?
No worried about shifts - the only ones I've blown were because of a sudden shock load (spinning tyre hits immovable object), and I can always weld up a set of Shoggy shafts!

i have an arb in the front and the steering is very heavy when its locked in off road it must put a lot of strain on the power steering box as it allways passes oil when i ues the locker a lot but normaly its ok i have a spartin locker it the rear and its not that bad on road tbh there isnt enough power in the 1600 to spin the wheels however it does click and bang a lot more than the lock right you can fit them in the front long as you use the std side gears
