Re: Are there any active members out there

I've been working away for six months so not had an opportunity to play with the Jimny other than drive it round the field a few times to move the oil round and charge the battery. Robbed the head unit out of it for the Ignis.

Re: Request for replacement carb/fuel injector . (Mikumi mod

If you haven't got one yet then try to get hold of Mike Harris, he breaks SJs and I know he has broken a few injection models.

Re: anyone around

I drop in from time to time, last weekend I made a start on re-comissioning the Vitara but then put my back out moving a tonne of chicken feed.

You could Google for somewhere that can clean the injector but chances are that its not the problem. What readings are you getting on the emissions test?

Re: emissions

What readings are you getting? The most likely culprits are the O2 sensor or the cat, assuming its properly serviced with the correct properly gapped spark plugs.

Re: New and not a clue. Can I have a lift please?

The X90 has softer rear springs than a Vitara so you could just fit a set of +2" Vitara springs. You will need longer shocks, strut spacers and camber adjustment bolts unless you go for the OME or Calmini kit.

Re: Fluctuating cold idle and other misbehaviour

E5T53171 is the important part of that number, 65BD0 is the Suzuki part number but is missing a digit off the end. The glitch in the reading could be an effect rather than a cause, the airflow will drop if the revs drop. Have you tested the idle speed controller? If you can get hold of an SDT then i...

Re: 2.0 16v engine conversion

The 2.0 is quite different from the 1.6 but the conversion has been done, have a look on the TrailTough website. They don't show a price, probably because its quite expensive due to the number of parts required. There are a couple of other vendors that list kits as well.

Re: Drowned Vitara!!!

When you turn on the ignition does the Check Engine Light come on and stay on? Have you tried pulling the fault codes? Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition? do any relays click? How much of the engine would have been under water? have you tried unplugging sensors and checking for...

Re: No reverse!!

I would check the clutch cable adjustment first, there should be 1mm of free play at the lever at the bellhousing.

Re: Brake failure.

With the conversion that I had I had too much pedal travel and a very poor handbrake, I junked it and fitted the bigger LWB rear drums. The stock brakes on mine were Lucas/Girling and I couldn't find a better master cylinder that would fit, ideally you should fit a disc/disc m/c.

Re: Vitara 1992 LWB lift help

The number of turns will affect the spring rate as well, if you have more turns with a thicker wire gauge then that could still be softer, the spring rate is proportional to the wire gauge and the length of the wire, rather than the height of the spring.
